Book 40 · Gospel
Matthew
Matthew presents Jesus as the son of David and son of Abraham, born under prophetic fulfillment and set within Israel’s story. The Gospel moves from John’s preparation and the Sermon on the Mount to signs, parables, conflict with leaders, and repeated calls to faith and obedience. As the journey turns toward Jerusalem, Matthew gathers Jesus’ suffering, death, resurrection, and final commission to his disciples.
Within the New Testament, Matthew serves as a Gospel of fulfillment, showing Jesus as Israel’s promised king, teacher, and Messiah. It links the law, the prophets, the kingdom, and the church’s mission in one continuous account of his authority, suffering, resurrection, and presence with his disciples.
