Whose Son Is the Christ?

Jesus questions the Pharisees while they are still gathered together.

W⁴¹hile the Pharisees were assembled, Jesus questioned them:

He asks what they think about the Christ and whose son he is.

⁴²“What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is He?”

Jesus asks how David, speaking in the Spirit, can call the Christ Lord.

⁴³Jesus said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord’? For he says:

He cites the Lord’s word to his Lord, placing one above the other.

⁴⁴‘The Lord said to my Lord,

Jesus asks how David’s son can also be David’s Lord.

⁴⁵So if David calls Him ‘Lord,’ how can He be David’s son?”

No one answers, and no one dares question him further.

⁴⁶No one was able to answer a word, and from that day on no one dared to question Him any further.
