Book 2 · Torah
Exodus
Exodus tells how the LORD brings Israel out from slavery in Egypt, binds them to himself in covenant, and orders their life with him in their midst. The book moves from oppression and deliverance, through the wilderness to Sinai, and from Sinai into the making of the tabernacle, where the God who rescues also comes to dwell among his people.
Exodus carries the promise given in Genesis into the forming of a people: Israel is not only preserved but gathered, named, and ordered for life with God. In the canon, it becomes the great script of redemption, covenant, and divine presence that later books return to again and again.
