Book 18 · Wisdom

Job

Job follows a righteous man whose suffering arrives without explanation and whose search for an answer stretches through grief, argument, silence, and encounter with God. The book refuses easy cause-and-effect and instead lingers over what it means to fear God when the world no longer seems morally clear.

Within the canon, Job stands as wisdom literature that pushes past simple formulas of reward and punishment. It gives scripture's longest sustained meditation on innocent suffering, human limits, and the kind of trust that survives without mastering the mystery.
