Chapter 75

God’s Righteous Judgment

This psalm gives thanks because God is near and his wondrous deeds are known, then shifts into God's own declaration that he will judge uprightly at the appointed time. In a shaking world he alone holds the pillars steady, warns the proud not to boast, and reminds all that exaltation comes from him rather than from any earthly direction or power. The psalm ends by contrasting the cup of the LORD, which the wicked must drain, with the singer's resolve to praise the God of Jacob who cuts off the strength of the wicked and lifts up the righteous.

Psalm 75 is a compact hymn of divine judgment that combines thanksgiving, oracle, warning, and doxology. It teaches that human boasting is absurd because God alone fixes the proper time, governs the world's stability, and decides who is brought low or raised up.
