Chapter 28

The LORD Is My Strength

This psalm begins as a cry to the LORD not to remain silent, because silence from God would leave David like those going down to the pit. It asks for mercy and for the wicked to receive the fitting return of their deeds, then pivots into praise because the LORD has heard the cry, ending with confidence that the LORD is strength for his people and with a prayer that he would save, bless, shepherd, and carry them forever.

Psalm 28 moves cleanly from urgent plea to answered praise. It shows that the one who cries for mercy may also ask God to judge evil rightly, and that personal deliverance naturally widens into prayer for the whole people of God.
