Chapter 25

To You I Lift Up My Soul

This psalm lifts the soul to the LORD in trust, asking not to be put to shame, pleading for instruction in God's ways, and appealing to his mercy and covenant faithfulness. It blends confession, wisdom, and distress, moving from prayer for guidance and forgiveness to confidence that the LORD teaches, guards, and finally redeems his people.

Psalm 25 works as an extended prayer of dependent trust. It shows that the one who fears the LORD looks to him for pardon, direction, protection, and covenant friendship, and it widens at the end from David's personal need to Israel's shared redemption.
