Chapter 91

You Are My Refuge and My Fortress

This psalm is a sustained confession of security for the one who makes the LORD his refuge. It moves from the quiet assurance of dwelling under the Most High's shadow into vivid promises of deliverance from hidden danger, violence, pestilence, and every terror that stalks human life. The song culminates with God himself speaking, pledging rescue, presence, honor, and salvation for the one who loves him and knows his name.

Psalm 91 stands as one of scripture's clearest declarations of covenant refuge. It does not invite presumption or self-reliance, but deep trust: safety belongs to the one who abides in God, confesses him as fortress, and rests in his faithful protection.
