Bless the LORD, All You Servants
A1 song of ascents. 2Lift up your hands to the sanctuary 3May the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth,
This final Song of Ascents is a brief call-and-response of blessing. The servants of the LORD are summoned to bless him in the night as they stand in his house with lifted hands, and the answering word asks that the LORD, maker of heaven and earth, would bless from Zion.
At the close of the Songs of Ascents, Psalm 134 leaves the pilgrim not with narrative or petition but with worship itself. It fits Book V by ending the ascent where it was always headed: in the house of the LORD, under the night watch, where human blessing of God and divine blessing of his people meet in a final, simple exchange.
