Christ’s Passion Foretold
Jesus warns them not to tell anyone, then says that the Son of Man must suffer, be rejected, be killed, and be raised on the third day.
J21esus strictly warned them not to tell this to anyone. 22“The Son of Man must suffer many things,” He said. “He must be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and He must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”
Section summaryAfter Peter’s confession, Jesus orders silence and then speaks plainly about his coming suffering. He names rejection by the leaders, death, and rising on the third day. The section gives confession its first immediate horizon: the path of the Son of Man through suffering to resurrection.
