The Mark of the Beast

The second beast requires all people, regardless of status, to receive a mark on right hand or forehead. Without that mark, which is identified with the beast's name or number, no one can buy or sell. Commerce becomes an arena of enforced allegiance, and ordinary life is pulled into the beast's worshiping order. The chapter ends with a call for wisdom to discern and calculate the beast's number, 666. The paragraph closes by presenting discernment as necessary in the face of a totalizing counterfeit kingdom.
