Many Samaritans Believe
Many Samaritans believe because of the woman’s testimony, and more believe because of Jesus’ message after he stays with them two days. Their confession names him as the Savior of the world.
M39any of the Samaritans from that town believed in Jesus because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40So when the Samaritans came to Him, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed two days. 41And many more believed because of His message. 42They said to the woman, “We now believe not only because of your words; we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man truly is the Savior of the world.”
Section summaryMany Samaritans believe first through the woman’s testimony, then through Jesus’ own word after he stays with them two days. Their confession names him as the Savior of the world, and the town’s faith moves from report to shared hearing.
Role in the chapterThis short movement records belief widening from one testimony to direct hearing. The town’s confession grows as Jesus’ own message deepens what the woman first reported.
