Judgment on Damascus

Damascus's northern associates hear troubling news and dissolve into fear like a troubled sea. Damascus itself becomes feeble, tries to turn and flee, and is seized by anguish like a woman in labor. The lament asks how the city of praise could become forsaken, but the answer is immediate: its young men fall in the streets, all its soldiers are silenced, and the LORD sets fire to the walls so that Ben-hadad's fortresses are consumed.
