A Message to the House of David

The house of the king of Judah is told to hear the word of the LORD and administer justice each morning, rescuing the robbed from oppressors before wrath burns beyond quenching. Because the city has presumed on its elevated security and imagined itself untouchable, the LORD announces that He is against it and will punish it according to its deeds.

M11oreover, tell the house of the king of Judah to hear the word of the LORD. 12O house of David, this is what the LORD says: 13Behold, I am against you who dwell above the valley, 14I will punish you as your deeds deserve,

Section summaryThe chapter's second movement addresses the royal house directly and reminds it that the duty to do justice has not disappeared just because judgment is near. Morning by morning the king's line should have defended the oppressed, yet instead it has trusted in its secure position and exposed itself to the LORD's fire, which will consume the forest of its strongholds.
Role in the chapterThis section narrows the broader siege oracle into a final charge against Davidic leadership. It shows that royal privilege without righteous governance only intensifies the judgment already coming.
