Isaiah

Chapter 60

Future Glory for Zion

Isaiah 60 summons Zion to rise and shine because the LORD's glory has dawned upon her, turning the city that once sat in darkness into the radiant center of divine light for the nations. The chapter then unfolds a sweeping vision of restored splendor in which kings, caravans, ships, wealth, sons and daughters, and even former enemies stream toward Zion, ending with the promise that violence, mourning, and ordinary lights will give way to a permanently righteous people illuminated forever by the LORD Himself.

This chapter matters because it presents redemption not merely as survival after judgment but as transformed glory that gathers the nations into worship around the presence of God. Isaiah 60 joins return, international homage, rebuilt beauty, and everlasting light to show the final public vindication of Zion as the place where the LORD's salvation and majesty are displayed to the world.

6Caravans of camels will cover your land, 7All the flocks of Kedar will be gathered to you; 8Who are these who fly like clouds, 9Surely the islands will wait for Me, 10Foreigners will rebuild your walls, 11Your gates will always stand open; 12For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; 13The glory of Lebanon will come to you— 14The sons of your oppressors

15Whereas you have been forsaken and despised, 16You will drink the milk of nations 17Instead of bronze I will bring you gold; 18No longer will violence be heard in your land, 19No longer will the sun be your light by day, 20Your sun will no longer set, 21Then all your people will be righteous; 22The least of you will become a thousand,
