The Covenant Remembered
The LORD says He will deal with Jerusalem according to her deeds because she despised the oath and broke the covenant, yet He Himself will remember the covenant from her youth and establish an everlasting covenant. Then she will remember her ways and be ashamed as she receives her sisters and learns that restoration rests on God's initiative, not on her rights. When He makes atonement for all she has done, she will know the LORD and sit in silent humiliation rather than self-defense.
F59or this is what the Lord GOD says: I will deal with you according to your deeds, since you have despised the oath by breaking the covenant. 60But I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you. 61Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your older and younger sisters. I will give them to you as daughters, but not because of My covenant with you. 62So I will establish My covenant with you, and you will know that I am the LORD, 63so that when I make atonement for all you have done, you will remember and be ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your disgrace, declares the Lord GOD.”
