A Jew named Apollos comes to Ephesus from Alexandria, eloquent and well taught in the Scriptures, fervent in spirit and accurate about Jesus though he knows only John's baptism. When he begins to speak boldly in the synagogue, Priscilla and Aquila take him aside and explain the way of God more accurately.
24Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, well versed in the Scriptures. 25He had been instructed in the way of the Lord and was fervent in spirit. He spoke and taught accurately about Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
When Apollos decides to cross to Achaia, the brothers commend him and write for him to be welcomed, and there he greatly helps those who have believed by grace. He powerfully refutes the Jews in public, proving from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.
