The Molten Sea

The Sea is presented in full: its circular size, decorative buds, twelve oxen supports, thick lily-shaped rim, and great capacity.

H23e also made the Sea of cast metal. It was circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from rim to rim, five cubits in height, and thirty cubits in circumference. 24Below the rim, ornamental buds encircled it, ten per cubit all the way around the Sea, cast in two rows as a part of the Sea. 25The Sea stood on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east. The Sea rested on them, with all their hindquarters toward the center. 26It was a handbreadth thick, and its rim was fashioned like the brim of a cup, like a lily blossom. It could hold two thousand baths.

Verse 23He makes the Sea of cast metal, circular in shape, ten cubits across, five cubits high, and thirty cubits in circumference.

It introduces the large basin with its essential measurements.

Verse 24Below its rim, ornamental buds run all around in two cast rows.

It adds decorative detail to the vessel's design.

Verse 25The Sea stands on twelve oxen facing the four directions, with their hindquarters turned inward.

It describes the striking base that supports the basin.

Verse 26Its wall is a handbreadth thick, its rim is shaped like a cup or lily blossom, and it holds two thousand baths.

It completes the description with finish and capacity.
