Chapter 93

The LORD Reigns!

This short royal psalm announces the LORD's reign in language of majesty, stability, and unconquerable strength. It affirms that God's throne stands from of old, that even the raging floodwaters cannot rival his power, and that his testimony is utterly trustworthy. The chapter ends by linking his reign to the holiness that beautifies his house forever.

Psalm 93 is a compact enthronement psalm. It takes the chaos-symbolism of the waters and sets it beneath the unshakable kingship of God, teaching that divine rule is both stronger than every threatening force and inseparable from holiness.
