Chapter 67

May God Cause His Face to Shine upon Us

This short psalm asks God to bless his people and make his face shine on them so that his way and saving power will become known throughout the earth. The blessing sought is never merely private; it is aimed at the glad praise of the nations who discover that God judges with equity and guides the peoples rightly. The psalm closes by linking worldwide worship with earthly fruitfulness, showing that God's blessing on his people is meant to overflow into global joy, reverence, and praise.

Psalm 67 stands at the intersection of covenant blessing and mission. It echoes Israel's priestly blessing but turns it outward, presenting divine favor as the means by which the nations come to know, rejoice in, and fear the one true God.
