Psalm 125

About Psalms

The Psalms are 150 songs and prayers, written over many centuries by David and others, and gathered into five books for Israel’s worship. Every human feeling is here: joy, fear, anger, grief, confusion and thanks. Many begin in trouble and end in trust. Jesus prayed them too, even on the cross, where He spoke the opening line of Psalm 22. Read them slowly. They are meant to be prayed, not only read.

Before you read Psalm 125Written by AI

A Song of Ascents of steady trust. Those who trust the LORD are as firm as Mount Zion, and as the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people. It ends with a prayer for good to the upright and a blessing of peace on Israel.

The LORD Surrounds His People

A song of ascents.

Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion.

It cannot be moved; it abides forever.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem,

so the LORD surrounds His people,

both now and forevermore.

For the scepter of the wicked will not rest

upon the land allotted to the righteous,

so that the righteous will not put forth

their hands to injustice.

Do good, O LORD, to those who are good,

and to the upright in heart.

But those who turn to crooked ways

the LORD will banish with the evildoers.

Peace be upon Israel.
