Aaron’s Blessing

The LORD tells Moses to instruct Aaron and his sons in the form of blessing they are to speak over Israel.

T22hen the LORD said to Moses, 23“Tell Aaron and his sons:This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:

The blessing calls down the LORD's protection, favor, and peace on Israel. Its closing line explains that this priestly speech places the LORD's name on the people, while the blessing itself comes from Him.

24‘May the LORD bless you 25may the LORD cause His face to shine upon you 26may the LORD lift up His countenance toward you 27So they shall put My name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

Section summaryThe LORD gives Aaron and his sons the words by which they are to bless Israel. The blessing asks for the LORD's favor, light, and peace, and it ends with His promise to place His name on the people and bless them Himself.
Role in the chapterThis section closes the chapter by moving from human consecration to divine benediction. After the laws of separation, it leaves Israel under words of presence, favor, and peace spoken by the priesthood.
