Matthew 9:37
Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
from The Lord of the Harvest, Matthew 9:35-38
What it says

Jesus tells his disciples that the harvest is plentiful, but the workers remain few.

What it is doing

The saying reframes the crowds as a field ready for gathering.

In context

35Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness. 36When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. 38Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest.”
