Chapter 10

The Sovereignty of God and The Coming Captivity of Judah

Jeremiah 10 contrasts the lifeless idols of the nations with the LORD who truly made and governs heaven and earth. The chapter then turns from mockery of false gods to the impending exile of Judah, ending with a prayer that accepts divine correction while pleading that wrath fall in full on the nations that have devoured Jacob.

This chapter extends Jeremiah's attack on false confidence by exposing both pagan idols and Judah's failure to live under the rule of the living God. It also bridges theology and judgment, moving from confession of God's sovereignty to lament over the concrete devastation now approaching Judah.
