Nebuchadnezzar Restored

When the appointed days end, Nebuchadnezzar lifts his eyes toward heaven and his sanity is restored. He blesses, honors, and glorifies the eternal God whose dominion is everlasting, whose kingdom endures through generations, and whose will among heaven and earth cannot be resisted or questioned. Restoration begins with recognition that all human rule is subordinate to God's unchallengeable authority.

B34ut at the end of those days I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven, and my sanity was restored to me. Then I praised the Most High, and I honored and glorified Him who lives forever: 35All the peoples of the earth

At the same time Nebuchadnezzar's honor, splendor, and kingdom return, and even surpassing greatness is added to him as advisers and nobles seek him out once more. Yet the king's final word is not self-congratulation but praise of the King of heaven, whose works are true, whose ways are just, and who is able to humble the proud. The restored monarch has learned to interpret his own greatness as contingent on the justice and mercy of God.

36At the same time my sanity was restored, my honor and splendor returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my throne, and surpassing greatness was added to me. 37Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, for all His works are true and all His ways are just. And He is able to humble those who walk in pride.
