A Greeting from Peter

Simon Peter identifies himself in the tension of humility and authority, as both servant and apostle of Jesus Christ. He writes to believers who have obtained a faith of equal standing through the righteousness of Jesus Christ, thereby placing all recipients on common gospel ground. His blessing asks for grace and peace to be multiplied through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. The paragraph establishes that Christian life begins in gifted faith and grows through true relational knowledge of God.
