Proverbs 23:35
“They struck me, but I feel no pain!
What it says
Though struck and beaten, the drunkard says he feels nothing and wants another drink as soon as he wakes.
What it is doing
This verse closes the chapter by exposing addiction's numbness and compulsive return.
