Chapter 12

Loving Discipline and Knowledge

Proverbs 12 contrasts those who love discipline, truth, diligence, and just speech with those who are stubborn, deceitful, rash, and lazy. Across household life, work, friendship, emotions, and public testimony, it shows that righteousness produces steadiness and life, while folly turns inward self-approval into harm for both self and neighbor.

As the twelfth chapter of Proverbs, this passage continues the Solomonic training in compact moral contrasts while sharpening the theme of teachability. It teaches that wisdom is inseparable from receiving correction, speaking truth, working faithfully, and ordering one's inner life under God's evaluation rather than personal impulse.
