Book 31 · Minor Prophet
Obadiah
Obadiah announces judgment on Edom for pride and violence against Jacob, then promises Zion's deliverance and the LORD's kingdom.
Within the Twelve, Obadiah is the most concentrated prophetic book, directing its force toward Edom's arrogant betrayal of Judah while widening out to the day of the LORD and the final triumph of God's kingdom. Its brevity sharpens its message: prideful security, opportunistic cruelty, and fraternal violence will be judged, while God's people will be restored and His rule openly established. Obadiah therefore serves as both a specific oracle against Edom and a compact theological statement about divine justice, covenant solidarity, reversal, and the ultimate sovereignty of the LORD.
