1 Chronicles

Chapter 1

From Adam to Abraham and more

1 Chronicles 1 opens with a long genealogy that runs from Adam through Noah and Shem to Abraham, then narrows through Abraham’s line toward Isaac while still naming related branches. It closes by tracing Esau’s descendants and Edom’s rulers, setting Israel’s family inside a wider human story.

This first chapter begins the book with origins rather than events. Before Chronicles turns to Judah, David, and the temple, it places Israel within the broad line of nations and kin that lead up to them.
